All About Us Piper’s Pet Sitting Service was created by owner Sandra Lindstedt out of her love for animals. After 7 years in corporate America, Sandra decided her efforts would be best put to use in caring for pets.
Sandra has always been surrounded by pets. Growing up in rural upstate New York she shared her home with several cats (mostly strays), a few dogs, fish, rabbits, hamsters and gerbils. She was always begging her mother to take in more pets and was known to bring home a few strays every now and then.
Our Pets Really Are Our Family
Sandra lives with her husband and “children”…4 cats (siblings Spencer and Gemini; Bojangles and China Cat Sunflower) and a greyhound, Piper. All of Sandra’s pets were adopted from shelters or rescue groups. The company’s namesake, Piper (proudly shown here), was adopted from Greyhound Rescue and Adoptions of Tampa Bay, or GREAT. “Pet over population is a huge problem in this area and I am a proponent of spaying and neutering. The shelters are full of pets just waiting for a loving home.
There are so many dog rescue groups in Florida and they are inundated with sweet animals who need a second chance. What happens to some of the greyhounds after they are retired from racing is tragic. These qualities were instilled in me by my mother and grandmother and my goal is to use those qualities to give my clients exactly what they expect…a happy, healthy pet and a safe and well cared for home.”
Sandra’s mother passed away in March, 2004 and her grandmother in March, 2006. The business is dedicated in their memories.
